[UP]
During this quarter, to augment our class reading, we will read partner books.
Your task:
Choose a partner in the class (easy enough, right?).
Together, choose a book to read. Choose a book that both interests and challenges you. It may be one of the class books or a book that you choose on your own. Get approval from me for any book which has not been approved for the class.
Work out a reading schedule. You will have 8 class periods to discuss your book and to read in class, so some of the book will have to be read out of class. Make a daily calendar to help you keep on track.
You must complete 6 online discussions on the discussion board. Post a first message using your book title as the thread and then be sure that you "reply" to all messages from them on. If you "Post" again, you will start a new thread, which will confuse me, and you may not get credit for your discussions. Remember, I agree or me too are not good discussion responses.
You will complete some in class writings while reading the book. One on setting, one on characters, one on action and conflicts, and one on themes and symbols.
Your final project for your partner book will be an individual approach paper over your book, and a presentation of your book to the class. This should be a brief 2 to 3 minute "sell" of your book. Just enough to get other students interested and not too much to spoil it for them.
.
You will be graded on:

Approach paper--------------------------------------------------------30%
Presentation ------------------------------------------------------------10%
