The Axe

Once a woodcutter in the town of Nebri had made himself a beautiful axe. He made it with the wood from a cottonwood tree and the steel from the ground. It was the most beautiful and the strongest axe ever. He took his axe everywhere he went. Then one day he decided to take his axe and walk around the town.

As he walked along the road, he noticed a woman trying to cut a piece of rubber. She asked him if he would loan her his axe. So he decided to be nice, and he let her use it. As she hit the rubber, the axe bounced off and went flying out into the middle of the woods. The axe was way out there and no way he would have found it.

"Oh no, my axe is gone," the woodcutter cried.

"Don’t worry about it," the woman replied, "I will give you my oranges."

As he walked along he noticed some guys with their truck stuck. So he decided to set down the oranges and help them get out. As he pushed them out a load of mud flew and flopped right on the oranges.

"Now look what you guys did to my oranges," the woodcutter replied.

"Oh don’t cry about it, here I will give you my gun," said the driver.

As he continued down the road the entered into the woods where he saw some boys trying to catch a bear.

"Hey mister, do you think I could borrow your gun to go get this bear that ran in the cave," the boy replied.

He decided why not, as he hand one of them the gun. The boy ran in the cave and after five minutes or so three shots went off, and all of a sudden the boy came running out without the gun.

"Where did my gun go," the woodcutter shouted?

"The bear got angry when I shot at him so he ate it," the boy replied, as he was frightened.

"Well now how do you expect me to get my gun back now?"

"I guess that you aren’t, but I can give you this axe that I found out here."

The woodcutter gladly took it as he noticed his initials on the handle. They just laughed as he went back to his home. After the long day he decided to take a long nap.
