There are very good quotes in the book A River Runs Through It. The one that I really think should be the main quote that describes the whole book was really hard to decide. The quote if finally picked was, "the rod should be closer to twelve then two." I think that this quote that their dad said really made the book stick out for me. I mean it is about fishing, which is awesome and it shows that their dad really teaches them a lot.
Their dad teaching them how to fly fish really showed me how great of a father he really was. I mean some dads don’t even teach their children anything at all. He really seemed like a great guy and that is why I loved the book so much. Their dad also really reminded me of mine. My dad has taught me so many things that I forget to thank him for all of it. He has taught me how to fish, hunt, work, and drive stick, and so much more. He really is a great guy and I look up to him. I think that this book really brought that out in their dad too.
Another reason that quote really described the book is because it is really about fly fishing, so the quote and the book go hand in hand. The fly-fishing theme in the book was really brought out and it was real clear. It showed up all over the place too. I also wrote this quote in one of my journals since it stuck out that much to me. I know that when I think of this book the first thing that will pop into my mind will definitely be that one quote.
Fly-fishing is also a very difficult sport. I know from experience that it really takes a long time to actually just get all of the casting down without getting a big tangled mess. Then once you get the casting done you then have to learn how to set in on the water right so you can catch fish. This book they made it seem quite easy, but there really was a lot of teaching going on. The quote I picked shows how the teaching comes in and everything else. Their dad was a real good mentor and taught them so much about fly-fishing and how they would relate it to life.
I really liked the quote and like I said before that will be the first thing I like about when I think of the book. It really described the book for me and that is why I liked it so much. Fishing was another good topic for me. Well I really like the quote and the book I thought it went well together.
