The Boy and his Sister
Well one day that same smart little boy and his sister were outside of the cabin by the road when their mammy came up and said "Children, take this bread to the good lady down the street and make it fast!" Before the children left the smart boy said "if a big black bird falls on the stoop send our two good dogs to help us" and with that the children set off. Brother and Sister walked along the road for a while until they came to a bridge. It was a mighty fine bridge, but what do you suppose was under that bridge? Why, a troll of course! And the first thing that troll did was reach up and grab Sister and pulled her right down under the bridge! Well, Brother, being the smart boy he was, took the bread out of his pocket and then he caught a giant black bird. Then he sat right down and made that bird eat the whole loaf of bread! Well by the time the bird ate the whole loaf he was so full he could barely fly, but Brother still made him fly off in the direction of his home. Well that big old bird was so full that as he was flying over Brother and Sisters house he just dropped dead right on the stoop! Well when Mammy came out and saw that bird she ran straight out to the yard and let the two dogs go and off they headed to find the boy and his sister. Soon they found Brother sitting by the bridge. Brother then leaned down and told the dogs what to do. The dogs darted under the bridge and drug that old troll out while Brother ran and got Sister out. Brother yelled "Away with him!" So the dogs drug that mean old troll all the way down to the Big River where he was never seen again. Brother and Sister lived happily ever after.
