Short story

Up

Christmas Morning

Sara opened her eyes, and looked around. "Where am I" she asked her self. Then she remembered, she was at her grandmas house, it was Christmas! As Sara jumped out of bed she woke up her little sister, Clair. "Come on sleepy head" she said. As Sara ran down the stairs she caught the smell of fresh baked pancakes and muffins. "I love Christmas!" Sara said to herself as she sat down at the long, oak table in her grandma’s dining room. By then Sara’s whole family had come down the stairs. "Hi Mom, hi Dad! Merry Christmas!" she said. Then added, "Hi Clair" as Clair sat down next to her.

After eating breakfast Sara and Clair went out to the living room to see all of the presents under the tree. After looking Sara came to the startling conclusion that she didn’t have any presents! "Mom!" she yelled, "Don’t I have any presents?" But her mom never answered, all Sara could hear was the soft laughter of her mom. "Ha, Ha, you don’t get any presents!" said Clair. "Shut up Clair!" said Sara as she stormed out of the house.

As Sara ran out of the house she headed towards the one place were she could be by herself, the barn. As she neared it she noticed the light was on. "I wonder who’s out here," she thought. But as she walked into the barn the light went out. As she ran around the barn to catch who ever was in the barn she heard sleigh bells. "That’s weird," she thought. When she walked back into the barn she heard a low whinny. Then she looked into the last stall, a there was a pony! "Wow!" thought Sara. She ran back to the house to thank her parents and when she did they didn’t know what she was talking about!

The End.
