Hello my name is Jeremy Perkins and I am 20 years of age. I am about to take part in a very important journey that will take us into the unknown territory west of the Mississippi River. Not a soul has ever set foot across the river but now since the United States is considering purchasing this land a group has been assigned by President Thomas Jefferson to explore the unknown territory.
We leave tomorrow morning with our leaders William Clark and Meriwether Lewis who I hear are very intelligent individuals with tracking and common knowledge about the wilderness under there belts. I am a little nervous about the adventure thats why I have decided to take my trusty dog, Mr. Brown along with me. He might be a bit off help if we run into any strange animals along the way. I hope that we find lots of adventure on this trip along with new discoveries to bring back home. Who knows maybe we'll be famous. I am hoping we find lots of mountains or rivers along the way because they could help with farming if the land is descent enough. Well I better finish my packing for the long trip and wash my clothes, I want to make sure and make a good impression on Lewis & Clark.

I am so excited! Late afternoon yesterday we were looking for a place to set up camp and we heard running water up ahead. We looked over a cliff and there we saw the Missouri River. It was so breathtaking, none of us could believe the beauty that this river possessed. It was good we found a water source as well because we were getting mighty hungry and there were some great fish swimming around in the river.
Right now I am sitting on some rocks on the shoreline of the river. I wish everyone could see this wonderful site. I really think that President Jefferson is going to be pleasantly surprised with all we are discovering in this short amount of time we have been out West. Well we are about to take off down the river better go get my stuff.
P.S. Mr. Brown really likes this adventure although he was sprayed by some sort of a white and black rodent the other day. I think some of them called it a skunk or something like that.
