Author Analysis

Wole Soyinka

An African author by the name of Wole Soyinka defiantly has something to write about.  He was imprisoned for 22 months in solitary confinement and learned a lot from that experience.  He has written such pieces as When Seasons Change and The Writer in a Modern African State.  Most of his works focus on his dislikes of other African writers.  He says that they are all focusing on the past problems in Africa and not at all on the present or future.  He feels that if all of the other authors focus on past problems, it will eventually lead to anti-progression.  Soyinka really wants everyone to hear and agree with his political assertions.  In his writings he simply states that other authors don’t focus on the flow of new wisdom and always comment of past troubles in and around Africa.  Many people think that Soyinka has a brilliant mind and uses it to his advantage when writing.  He has an energetic style and uses a lot of imagery and powerful language in each stanza.  Soyinka continues to write and share his views about Africa and still focuses on the future of his country.
