The African Artist

            In an African tribe, the tribal artist has a very respected position.  He creates and provides the sculptures and masks used for various ceremonies.  These ceremonies hold a very special purpose in each tribe often descending from their ancestors.  Each of the objects he creates takes a lot of patience and time to perfect. 

Becoming a tribal artist is not an easy task.  It can take years before you can perfect the art.  Sometimes the skills are passed down from father to son or past generations.  Many people today still don’t understand African art because it has such a spiritual purpose to the different African tribes.  Most of the things created by the artist are very detailed and beautiful. 

This type of artwork stands out compared to other forms of art from different nationalities.  It contains so much detail and a wide range of color usage.  African art is viewed all over the world today and is loved by many because it has such a wonderful background to it that began with a very special artist.
