Hello my name is Jeremy Perkins and I am 20 years of age. I am
about to take part in a very important journey that will take us into
the unknown territory west of the Mississippi River. Not a soul
has ever set foot across the river but now since the United States is
considering purchasing this land a group has been assigned by President
Thomas Jefferson to explore the unknown territory.
We
leave tomorrow morning with our leaders William Clark and Meriwether
Lewis who I hear are very intelligent individuals with tracking and
common knowledge about the wilderness under there belts. I am a
little nervous about the adventure thats why I have decided to take my
trusty dog, Mr. Brown along with me. He might be a bit off help if
we run into any strange animals along the way. I hope that we find lots
of adventure on this trip along with new discoveries to bring back home.
Who knows maybe we'll be famous. I am hoping we find lots of
mountains or rivers along the way because they could help with farming
if the land is descent enough. Well I better finish my packing for
the long trip and wash my clothes, I want to make sure and make a good
impression on Lewis & Clark. March 1 1804
It is the nite befor the journe
and I am feeling
veary
nervious. I am feeling
veary scared and excited at the same time.
I have heard many roumers about Mountians, Huge Beavers, and
indians. I hove that the
indians are nice to us. I
hope everything on our
journe goes good. I have said goodbye to my family and friends. Well it
is time to hit the trail so I have to go.

It is the day before we leave for our long journey to the west. President Jefferson is sending us to the west to discover the hidden secrets of the land to the west of where we are today. To tell you the truth I’m a little nervous about the journey and how the outcome might turn out. I wonder if all the rumors about the west are true. I certainly hope not. I’m anxiously waiting to find out what new adventures and discoveries we’ll stumble into. I wonder what kind of animals we’ll encounter on the way. But over all, I’m very excited for this journey.

THE DAY BEFORE THE TRIP Hello
my name is Jack Frost. I am excited about this mission that Thomas
Jefferson has sent us on. I also am a little nervous about going on this
journey. The rumors that I have heard are that there are some strange
animals over yonder in the west. I’ve heard that there are seven-foot
tall beavers. I have heard that there are bears that take up to ten
shots with a gun, to kill. The firs’ of March, My name is Forrest Marshall

I never knew how many trees and fascinating landscapes there are just along the river. This river is very fascinating, but the downside is that we definitely need a good navigator, and someone that has traveled and experienced this river would definitely be a plus to our side, but we don’t have one yet. I am worried a little bit about the ferocious animals that roam about this area. You never know what to expect. |
April 3, 1804 I am so excited! Late afternoon yesterday we were looking for a place to set up camp and we heard running water up ahead. We looked over a cliff and there we saw the Missouri River. It was so breathtaking, none of us could believe the beauty that this river possessed. It was good we found a water source as well because we were getting mighty hungry and there were some great fish swimming around in the river. Right now I am sitting on some rocks on the shoreline of the river. I wish everyone could see this wonderful site. I really think that President Jefferson is going to be pleasantly surprised with all we are discovering in this short amount of time we have been out West. Well we are about to take off down the river better go get my stuff. P.S. Mr. Brown really likes this adventure although he was sprayed by some sort of a white and black rodent the other day. I think some of them called it a skunk or something like that.
