(The idea for the Cyber Journal and most of the questions on this page are "stolen" from Dawn Hogue)
Your Cyber-journal is a place for you to reflect on your progress as a writer and your work in Cyber comp 10. You should add an entry on the last day of each school week. You are welcome, of course to write in your journal more often if you wish. Each entry should be dated. Also, each entry should be from 100-150 words long.
At the end of the semester you will write a much longer reflection (350-400 words).
Here are ideas for something to write in your reflective cyber journals:
How is this class different from other English classes you've had?
How do you feel about being in a Cyber comp class?
What have you learned? | ||
How have you changed (if you have changed)?
What will you do with what you have learned?
What are some of the goals you have set for yourself that Cyber comp 10 may help you develop or understand.
What's your favorite thing about your web page and why?
What has been most challenging or frustrating for you and how have you met the challenge or overcome the frustration?
Do you feel more confident about any of your skills in computers or writing? Explain.
Do you ever find yourself helping others to learn something? How does that feel? Is this a normal role for you or new to you?
If an outsider visited your site, what would you hope he or she would think about? |
For each major writing assignment or project, please enter the following reflection in your cyber journal:
| What I Did:
(explain what you or your group did to finish your project.)
| What I enjoyed:
(write about what you liked most about the project)
| What I found
difficult: (write about any part of the project you found hard to do.)
| What really
worked: (write about any part that you thought worked well).
| Next time: (write
what you would do differently next time). |
End of the year reflection:
In May, on the Friday before the end of school, write a longer journal entry labeled "end of year reflection" that reflects on the whole semester. This should be about 350-400 words. Here are some questions you may answer in order to help you write:
What have you learned? | ||
Which skills that you have now that you didn't have are most valuable to you and why?
How have the skills you have acquired in this class helped you in other classes or in other areas in your life?
In what ways have you become a better writer?
In what ways have you become a more self-directed learner?
If you were nervous about making a web page at the beginning of the semester, write about how your feelings have changed.
How does having a web page affect how you learn? How doe it affect how you write?
Looking back, what do you wish you would have learned about that you didn't? Or what would you do differently if you could go back, knowing what you know now? |
