One place that was and still is very important to me is my basement. It
is in my dad’s house and is pretty good sized. I spend most of my time in it.
It has a lot of meaning to me. The basement really isn’t mine, but I like to
say it is. It contains a TV, computer, a large couch, a couple of TV chairs, a
phone, and other things. My room is only down the hall from the “living
room” of the basement, so I am hardly out of the basement…only when I need
food!
I spend most of my time on the computer in my basement. I’ll either be
doing homework on it, talking to my friends, or playing the guitar. I sometimes
even sit in the computer chair when I’m watching TV. So my rear has to be
implanted in that chair…my trademark to it. J My
parents usually have to kick me off the computer.
When I was younger, I liked to play hockey down there with a hockey
stick, and a ball. I used the coffee table as a goal and shot around. But one
day, I was playing my sister, and I tripped and fell into the wall. Now the
walls have little almost rock like structures in them for texture. This
colliding with my head didn’t feel so great, but don’t worry; I was tough, I
survived. J
I watched a lot of TV and played Nintendo down there too. I don’t watch
as much TV now, just a couple of nightly shows and sporting events. I have a red
TV rocking chair that also should have my trademark on it. There have been many
hard fought battles on the Nintendo against my dad and friends. I have a
Nintendo 64. I don’t play it anymore, but it’s had plenty of use.
My room is also in the basement. I sleep there every night. I like to play my guitar on my bed a lot too. Especially when I’m in deep thought I like to let my fingers play out my thoughts. It helps me to pass the time on a boring day when I have nothing else to do. I moved into my room a couple of years ago. I used to have my room upstairs, but I started growing up and the room was getting a little too small for me, so I moved downstairs into what used to be the guest bedroom. I still have some decorating to do in it, it has duck wallpaper - should get that changed. But overall it’s a lot better than my old room.
My basement is also the home to many sleepovers with my friends. From things getting broken to friends getting hurt, it’s been through about everything there is to go through for a basement. It is big enough to have a lot of people over and to roughhouse a little bit, but not so big that you have to scream across the room for someone to hear you. There have been many fun times with sleepovers in that basement. It also is home to many family get-togethers and family friend times. My cousins and I have had fun making videos about stupid things, even fake music videos and movies.
My basement has been a special place to me throughout my whole life. It has been a place to sit and relax in, do homework, play guitar, or just be lazy. Many fun times spent in it have helped me become happier. It is a great place to be, and has been a big place in my life.
