“Lost”
It
was a cloudy, rainy day when Patrick woke up from his deep, long slumber. It was
the beginning of summer, but so far it hadn’t been any fun because it had been
raining everyday for the past two weeks. Patrick turned on his radio, but all he
could hear was static. He thought that maybe the massive amounts of rain might
be the cause, so he went downstairs to watch some television. As he reached the
bottom of the stairs, he noticed that the downstairs floor was covered in water.
He also realized that his family was gone. Panicking, he jumped into the water
and headed towards the front door.
When
he finally swung the door open, water from the outside came pouring into the
house. Patrick was swept away with the flow of the water, and was thrown against
a wall. He finally grabbed onto a handle on the back door, and waited until the
water stopped coming in.
When
the flowing water was still, Patrick again headed outside. He still had to swim
because the water outside was at least six feet deep. Patrick didn’t really
care about the enormous amount of water surrounding him. All he cared about was
finding his family. Everywhere he looked there were people in boats just sitting
around trying to keep warm. Patrick saw his friends, teachers, and people he had
never seen before in his life, but his family was nowhere to be found.
“This
has got to be a bad dream,” said Patrick.
Patrick
was getting tired from all the swimming. He looked around him and found a front
door that had once been attached to a house floating in the water. He grabbed
onto it. Clinging to the door, Patrick began to cry. He missed his family, and
was cold and hungry.
that he was alive, and the sound of a small motorboat got louder and louder as it neared the boy
floating in the water. When the boat reached Patrick, he saw that is family was in the boat. Patrick
climbed into the boat and told his family how scared he had been and how much he missed them.
Then they all traveled to a town that wasn’t covered in water, and started a new life there
