In the novel Montana 1948, David, Wesley, Gail and Marie have a strong sense of place. All but Gail are part of Montana and the river and the river and Montana are part of them. Gail yearns for the dirt smell of North Dakota which is her place. Your assignment is to write a personal narrative of two to three pages (500 words or so) about a place that has had some special meaning in your life - a place which is still a part of you. Provide specific physical details about the place and explain how this place helped form you into the person you are today. Think of how you want to order your narrative. What will you summarize? What will you dramatize? Will you use chronological order or flashback?
Remember that the audience for your essay is anyone who has access to the WWW. Give them enough information so that they can understand why this place is significant to you.
