I Search

One of your papers this semester will be an I-Search research paper. To write this paper, you will choose a topic which really interests you. I would like it to be a community or school issue that you really find interesting. It should also be a topic which is open to research online, through print material (infotrac sources are considered print), and interviews.

Your paper will follow the format found at this site: http://depts.gallaudet.edu/englishworks/writing/formatsheet.html

We will, of course, make some modifications. Your paper will need:

  1. 1 or more online articles, 1 or more print articles, and 1 or more interviews.
    1. A word about interviews. Be sure you call and arrange interviews well before you need to meet with the person, and make your self available according to their schedule. Also, do your background research and have well planned, open ended questions before you go to the interview.
  2. You will need to write a separate paper for each of your sources, but this part should only be 2 to 4 pages long.
  3. Be sure you look at the samples on this web site. Even though yours will not be as extensive, it should follow the same format.

Your paper will be prepared on the word processor, edited in your writing circles and revised before you hand it in to me.

4. Look at the research paper directions on the website for directions for source files, notes files, works cited pages and title pages.
