Going to the art museum with paintings of Lewis and Clark, the wilderness, and nature during that time made me realize that things have changed a lot. Everything looked so beautiful and peaceful back then. In some places we still have that beauty but open fields have now been turned into cities and factories and it just isn’t the same. One of the paintings that made me really go “wow” was the painting of a cliff. It wasn’t a normal cliff though; it had features that made it look like an eagle. I really liked it because it just reminded me of how the eagle is such a symbol in America and how it seems to watch over everything. Now days we don’t really think of it and it’s meanings but it truly does mean a lot to our country.

The color of my day today is yellow
The sun is shinning down
So I don’t have a frown.
The entire world seems to care
But I just want to disappear
When the clouds show up
I want to throw up
Go away so I can stay
Happy and bright throughout the day.

Being a cybersoph in sophomore composition is a lot different than any other English class I have had. I find things to be easier using a laptop to do my writing on. It isn't so time consuming and I think it has helped my writing skills. It helps a lot with my knowledge of the computer. I seem to know much more about technology than I ever have. One of the most frustrating parts about being a cybersoph are the days when the server is down. In the other two classes it's a little easier because they have text books but in Sophomore composition, things are harder because the whole class revolves around the computers. Doing this multi-genre project I think was a good project. It wasn't too difficult but it did take some work. I never used to think I enjoyed writing poetry but finding out all the different types there are makes things a lot easier for me to find what I like to write.

I have learned a lot from being in cyber classes. Before, all I really knew how to do was use Word, email, and the internet. But now things are a lot different. Almost everyday it seems like I am using something knew on the computer, whether it's on the internet or not, there is so much more to these computers than what I would have first thought. One of the main resources I have used a lot is Microsoft FrontPage, obviously because we are making our own web-pages. I remember the first day we used this program, I thought it was the most confusing thing ever. But now that I have worked with it almost everyday and am always using it, it's not hard anymore at all. I would have never been able to create my own web page had we not been assigned to do so and had help from all the teachers along the way.

There are some difficulties I have seen with having everything we do due on our web page. Things seem to become more complicated because we don't have specific due dates for everything we do. I'm not saying I like having everything due on one day, because I like having the freedom of doing things on our own. Sometimes for me though, I sometimes can get behind on what is supposed to be due and then I find out later that we were supposed to paste it on the web page or actually turn it in. I don't know if that is what other people think, but that is how I sometimes feel.

With the end of the first semester here already, I have noticed many good things in being a cyber sophomore, and also some not good things. In each class we used the computers for different reasons. Sophomore composition is the class that is most dependant on the computers, geography is next, and then biology. I liked the freedom we had in composition class, we could just walk in and start working on what we know we had to work on. The bad part about this though, is that a lot of times, we would get confused as to what was supposed to be due and when it was due. It just seemed that we were often times rushed at the end of a project to finish everything on time, which is mostly our faults. In geography class, I liked how almost everyday it was an assignment on the computer. Once we were given the assignment, we could go to work at our own pace. I liked doing this because often times I enjoy working by myself or with small groups. Biology class was a little different than these two classes in that we didn't use the computers as much. But this is understandable, considering there is not a lot we can do concerning biology on the computers. But I did like the ways we tied in use of the computers, with projects like making power points often.
My goals for the next semester coming up are to overall be more organized. When a major project comes up, I am not going to wait until the last couple days to finish up. I thought things were very successful with the computers the first half of the school year. And hopefully they keep getting better.
