Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it. The river was cut by the world’s great flood and runs over rocks from the basement of time. On some of the rocks are timeless raindrops. Under the rocks are the words, and some of the words are theirs. I am haunted by waters.
Have you ever read part of a book and thought it could tell you all about it? If I had to pick a “quote of the book” to describe it, this one would be the one. It is what I would want saved if I would never be able to find the book again. This is essentially important in several ways. When you read this, you may wonder why “I am haunted by waters” and what the last sentences in the book meant.
There were many reactions from me when I first read this. I was extremely confused not only by the last quote, but the entire reading. My other reaction was that the quotes impressed me by capturing my attention, especially as the closing as the book. Tremendously powerful and interesting would be the ways of saying how the author’s use of language is to me. I did not think that the passage was mainly meaningful at first, but it soon changed. It was meaningful, because he said it in such a way and at the right time that it made the end of the book make sense to its readers when they think about it. These are just some of my reactions.
The language that the author uses is very descriptive and beautiful. He creates such descriptive and beautiful information to help you understand what he is trying to say. I do not think that the language for the passage is exactly graphic because it is using objects in life that are real, but they have different meanings. It is to some extent to me though, because it creates the image of using these objects to think about how it is related to the actual meaning of this part in the book. This is how the author uses language in the last paragraph.
The passage is important to the message of the book is trying to send to you. After I thought about it and considered what it meant, it started to begin making sense to me. I think that the passage means that life is unpredictable as to what the future has in store for you. It also tells me that life is not perfect, but you need to enjoy it while you have it. It is like a roller coaster ride; you will have your ups and downs throughout life. This is what the message of the book meant to me.
As I said before, if I had to choose one passage of the book, I would choose the last paragraph in the book, which includes “I am haunted by waters”. It is helpful by telling you what the meaning of the book is. You may need to think about it for it to actually make sense.
