By Lucas Rasmussen
In this movie, there are many obstacles that Homer has to overcome to reach his dream of becoming a Rocket Scientist. His dream is to be able to go out into space with his own rocket that he designed. But there are many things that stand in his way before he gets there. These things could be people, such as family or friends.Throughout this movie, there were many obstacles that Homer had to overcome, but out of all of these obstacles, there was one main obstacle that was probably the hardest to overcome. This obstacle was definitely his dad. His dad works in the mine where he thinks that everybody should work, including his son Homer. At first Homer ignores his dad’s idea of working in the mine and continues to try and make his dream come true. After his dad almost lost his eye in a tragic mining accident, he decided that he would have to work in the mine for his dad and try to make him proud. But what he didn’t know is that this would lead him to a journey of self-discovery. So he decides to tell his dad that he can’t work in the mine and has to make his dream with rockets come true.
The next obstacle that he has to overcome is when his friends and him were arrested for possibly starting the forest fire ten miles out of town. Later, he figures out that the rocket they launched wasn’t even near the fire that occurred and so he proves it to the principle and then suddenly gets and audience for his rocket launching. One of the easier obstacles that Homer and his friends overcame was when his dad told them that they couldn’t launch any more rockets on city property. So he walks eight miles just to get out of city limits where he finds an excellent spot to launch them.
Throughout this movie there were many obstacles that Homer had to overcome and successfully did. The hardest one was probably when he had to ignore his dad. These are all of the obstacles that Homer and his friends had to overcome to make his dream come true during this movie.
