Quote of the Book

Throughout my reading of this book, there were many quotes that helped describe this book and that really made you think about what it meant. In this book there was one quote that stood out from all of the quotes. This quote is, " It is those we live with and love and should know who elude us." This quote is placed in the reading towards the end of the book.

If I had to choose one quote from this novel to have before this book was destroyed so that I can remember what the book was mostly about it would definitely be the quote up above. At first when I saw this quote, I didn’t know what elude meant, but after I looked I up I found out that it meant to escape or avoid or to getaway from. This quote really made me think about what it means. In my opinion, I think that it means if you really have a good relationship or good friendship with someone then at some point in life they might get away from you such as dying or just moving away, and that’s something that person has to deal with.

This quote is said by Norman’s father who is talking about Paul’s death. In this book, Norman and his father both had a very good relationship with Paul, but after Paul got killed it even brought Norman and his father closer together. That is also kind of what this quote is trying to tell us. I think that the biggest message in this quote is trying to tell you that you should respect what you have as long as possible because at some point in life you won’t always have that special thing.

In this quote there were many different messages that it brought to me that I fully understand. This quote is definitely the most important quote in this whole book in my mind at least. This tells a great message that can affect someone for the rest of their life. This is why I think that the quote, " It is those we live with and love and should know who elude us," is the most important quote in this book in my mind.
