Where I am From

I am from vanilla wafers and grilled cheese

I am from the swing set and the trampoline

I am from the dress on my teddy bear,

Which I wore home from the hospital

I am from the I love yous and clean up lines of Barney,

Author and the Berenstain Bears

I am from the long bike rides,

And playing basketball in the driveway

I am from the lake,

Where I would camp and boat

I am from the smell of night crawlers,

The morning before we would go fishing.

I am from the sleepovers, long talks,

And all nighters with my friends.

I am from Fox and the Hound and Lion King,

Full House and Saved by the Bell

I am from neighborhood dungeon and night games

But mostly I am from the two people who always told me,

"Go to bed" and "Don’t sit too close to the T.V."
