Quote of the Book Essay

Return to Project

The final passage that you chose, "The Quote of the Book," should be the one passage or quote that captures the essence – the true meaning – of the novel for you, the reader. In a well-written essay, explain exactly HOW this passage is the one perfect quote from the book [Think of this as the one passage that you would absolutely want saved should your book ever be lost or destroyed.] Discuss the importance of the passage to the book’s message or meaning or theme.

Also, react to the passage as a reader. Let your audience know why you selected this passage. Does the quote impress, intrigue, or puzzle you? Is the author's use of language appealing or powerful?  Is the language beautiful, descriptive, graphic?  Is it particularly meaningful?
