Lindsay-Persuasive Essay

Taylor Greer “inherited” a child.  This means Turtle did not come to her legally.  She was just dropped off on the front car seat.  One wonders if it was right for Taylor to keep Turtle, or if Taylor should have brought this child to a social services agency.

I firmly believe that Taylor’s decision of keeping Turtle was the right one.  Turtle was just a small, helpless, and extremely abused baby.  Social services might not have been able to give this child all the attention that she needed.

Taylor took extremely good care of Turtle.  She even found psychiatric help for her.  However, this psychiatrist had a problem with Taylor having no legal claim.  Thus, they were sent on a wild goose chase all over the Midwest, trying to find the true parents.  Unfortunately, this feat could not be accomplished.  Steven and Hope pretended to be Turtle’s parents so she could continue her life with Taylor.

I think it would have been mentally devastating if Turtle had to be taken away from Turtle.  Being uprooted several times is not good for a small child.  If she had been put into social services, she would have had to change homes several times.  Taylor gave her the love and stability that she needed, which is why it was the right decision to keep Turtle.
