John Michael Cronin, age of 76, died Tuesday, May 4th,
2004, at Avera-Mckennen Hospital, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, May 8th,
at 2:30 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, with Fr. Dickinson officiating. Burial
will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery, following the church services.
Visitations will be held on May 7th, 2004, from
6p.m- 9p.m. at Kostel Funeral Home, Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Pallbearers will be Terry Glenn, Bob Starr, Bob Cronin,
Eddie Cronin, Tom Glenn, & Jerry Hoffman.
John Michael Cronin was born to Greg & Beth Cronin, on
December 17th, 1928, at the Gregory County Hospital. He was baptized
and received his first communion on February 28th, at St. John’s
Church. On January 8th, 1954, he married Jane Peters at St. Mary’s
Church, Sioux Falls.
John grew up on a farm in Gregory County, loving the game
of fish and hunting. He was an above average student attending Robbinsdale
Elementary, and Gregory High School. He was a war Veteran of the Korean &
Vietnam War. He worked for the Sioux Falls Police Department, and received a
plaque for his great 20 years of service. He was also a bodyguard for President
Gerald Ford and Jimmy Carter when they came to South Dakota for official
business.
Survivors include three daughters: Kathy H, Yankton, SD;
Connie G, Canton, SD; and Shelly S, Sioux Falls, SD. John also survived by two
sons- Eddie C. of North Dakota; Bob C. of Sioux Falls and North Dakota; one
sister- Rosemary C, of Brookings, SD; and by his 15 grandchildren.
