The Elves and The Pythons

Once upon a time there was a tribe of elves living in a huge, dense forest. Through this forest ran a long winding river. The tribe of elves never left the small island in the middle of the river. A magical barrier protected the island that the elves’ ancestors had built hundreds of years ago. The elves feared that there were evil beings across the wide rushing river that would eat an elf as soon as he set foot on the unfamiliar soil.

One night during a yearly festival, two young elves decided to take an adventure. They sneaked by the guards, through the gate, and across the river on an old rickety bridge. They cautiously stepped foot on the other side. There didn’t seem to be any danger, so they continued on a dirt path along the river.

The path took them to places never seen by any other elves in their tribe. Suddenly, a huge python leaped out of the trees in front of them. The snake swung at the first elf but was stopped in its tracks by a huge fallen apple. The second elf had used his new lightning powers to knock an apple off the giant apple tree. Then the first elf used his lightning power to zap a nearby mountain and cause a huge boulder to fall on the python and kill it.

The elves continued on their way home but easily got lost along the winding river. Before long, the two elves encountered with another python larger than the first. It too swung at the first elf, but this time he got smashed by a huge mass of mud. This time the second elf had zapped the clouds to cause rain to make a mud slide. As the sun started going over the mountains, the elves got a huge break and found a whale that was nice enough to bring the elves back to the island.

The elves never told anyone about the adventure they took.  They feared that they would get a huge punishment.  The tribe of elves have still to this day, never left the island.
