Year of My Birth

On March 30th, 1987, a baby was born at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, SD. That baby was my brother Andrew.
When Andrew was born, my parents thought that he could walk right out of the hospital. He was nine pounds one ounce and looked light a little Indian sumo wrestler. Three of Andrew’s cousins were also born that year. Two of them were born within one month of his birth. He was greeted by my dad Joey, our cat Fuzzy, and me when he came home from the hospital.
My dad worked at what is now Baldwin Filters and watched the Redskins on Sunday Night Football. My mom had a home daycare and watched Knots Landing. She also liked to read Daniel Stele books.
"Three Men and a Baby" hit the theatres in 87’ and made $81 million profit. It was the single best selling movie of 87’. The New York Giants had won the Super Bowl that year defeating the Denver Broncos 39 to 20.
I never really knew my great grandma Pfeiffer who died at the age of 97 in 1987. I still had two great grandmas and a great grandpa in my family. I also had a two greats grandpa who lived to be 102 years old.
In the national news section of the newspaper, Canada and the United States signed a free trade agreement and Toni Morrison received a Pulitzer Prize for the novel Beloved.
