Dear mother,

     I made it to Vietnam all right and I met some very interesting people.  The one of the first people I met was Jenkins he seems so scared all the time, but he does great voice impersonations. His fear is very obvious to everyone, and I hope that I do a better job of hiding mine.

     Today I met Lieutenant Carroll  he is in charge of our regiment for the war….. if we survive. He seems nice enough (for somebody in a war) but I really don’t think he is a bad person and that we might get along well.

     Today I met a new machine gunner named Brunner he seems very nice and is one of the most hopeful people I have met so far. I sure hope we become good friends.

      Oh and I found some exciting news Peewee apparently got interviewed for a newspaper I sent you the article clipping. I hope I come home soon I found some of my friends really weren’t so lucky.
