Letter to an Author
Dear Honore de Balzac,
I really enjoyed your short story Innocence. It was really flowed well and made you wonder. I would enjoy reading more of your short story.
I like the fact that you talked about children and their innocence. Children are not always innocent but the way you talked about them it sounded like they were. I have always been interested in Henry VIII and this story made me wonder all the more. I really liked the part when the children were allowed in to see the painting of Adam and Eve, when everybody else was not. I’m glad that they amused the kind in his time of sickness.
The only part I was wondering about was why you said that after you had your wisdom teeth cut out you are no longer innocent. That is the only part that confused me. I also didn’t understand the language very well.
Your short story taught me a lot about children. They should be cherished. It was very enjoyable and worth reading. Thank you for sharing this story with me.
Sincerely,
Cassie D.
Conversation with a Character
Me: Have you only had 3 terrifying experiences in your life like you have said?
Anton: Yes, that is what I told you about in my story.
Me: Have any of these experiences changed or altered your life in anyway.
Anton: They have made me more open-minded about things.
Me: That's interesting. Have they made you more superstitious?
Anton: Not really.
Me: Do you get scared easily?
Anton: No, as you can tell from my story, it has to be really terrifying for me to be afraid of it.
Me: I really didn't understand the thing with the dog, why did that scare you?
Anton: It didn't really scare me and much as it startled me. I didn't know who the dog was or why it was following me but then my friend said it was theirs and it somehow got away on the way over to my house. I kind of felt like the dog knew me. I felt really bad that they didn't get their dog back though.
Me: Oh, I get it now.
