Poster Essay
"These
jobs will have to be glorified as a patriotic war service if American women are
to be persuaded to take them and stick to them. Their importance to a nation
engaged in total war must be convincingly presented." Women needed
the confidence to go and work in the factories while their men were at war; this
poster gave them that confidence they needed.
The poster that gave them the confidence was simple but to the point. On this poster there is a women flexing her right arm. Above her is a speaking bubble that says " We can do it!." The colors are bright and stand out. The colors are red, yellow, and blue.
What the government wanted women to get from this poster was that it is okay if they worked in the factories. They needed to find someone to take the place of the men while at war, so they decided to target the women. The government did its job with these messages because most of the women were working in factories or making supplies for men at war.
When the men came home, the women weren't satisfied
staying at home anymore. They wanted to work. Not only did they help
greatly with the war, they helped with women's rights .I
think that this poster leaves a permanent reminder that women can do whatever
men can do, sometimes even better and more efficiently. This was the time
for women to change the future, to make it a better environment for women to
come.
