Once upon a time there was a lady named Mrs. Morrow. She lived not too far away from New York City. She had a son who went to college at Pencey in New York City. Mrs. Morrow was a nice lady and loved her son very much.

One day when she was visiting her son, she ran into a guy that knew him. His name was Holden Caulfield, but he didn’t tell her his real name. He went to school with her son. Well, Holden started doing something peculiar. What he did was, he told her all these lies about her son. For example, Holden told her that her son was one of the most popular guys in school. Also, he told her that her son almost was the class president. She just sat there and absorbed every bit of it and asked a lot of questions. Holden just kept going like a house on fire.

When they both separated, she still thought all those things Holden said were true. Holden did feel a little awkward afterwards. Now, why did Holden do that you ask. Well, it’s real hard to say. There are many possible reasons. One, is that he felt sorry for her son  and wanted to make his mom more proud of him. The other reason is quite simple. Holden is just a really abnormal fellow. Let’s just say he’s not the sharpest knife in the drawer. As they kept going on their normal lives, this short little moment crept way in the back of their heads until it was just a fading memory.
