Dear Sally,

I know it has been a very long time since I have talked to you but I figured that since I was in New York anyway I would get together with you. You’re probably wondering why I’m home so early and to tell you the truth, it’s because I got kicked out of Pencey. This time it wasn’t my fault if you really want to know. I couldn’t stand all the flits and bitches that were there, I just couldn’t. Anyway I wanted to know if you want to go catch a matinee with me sometime today. That is of course if you don’t have some Harvard guy that you’re engaged to or something. We can catch up on old times. I know that you used to really like going to matinees with me. I was thinking that I’m going to take you up on that offer, and come trim the tree on Christmas Eve. Anyway I’m not sure what matinee is playing but I’ll go check and call you sometime time to let you know. Look forward to seeing you again, Holden
