This is right after Holden enters the bar and the bartender asks what he wants. Holden sits there for a while and watches some of the people around the bar.

Carl Luce is a more sophisticated man. When Holden tries to mess around with him and talk kind of perverted he tells him to cut it out. Luce use to be Holden’s student advisor when he went to Whooton, he gave them sex’s talks. I also think he says he cant stay long because he just wants to see if there is anything wrong and maybe because he doesn’t like being seen with Holden because he is a younger person

As they’re sitting there, Holden is talking to Luce and he is trying to goof around but he tells him to quit. This is a picture of a guy that Holden tells Luce to check out and he calls this guy a flit. I also think Luce wants to help Holden but he gives up on him because he hasn’t grown up any. I also think Luce thinks he is kind of a know it all.
