Dear Phoebe,

I am leaving town soon and wanted to say good-bye. I know you want to come but you can’t. You need to finish school and be here for Mom, Dad, and D.B. I know it will be hard for all of you loosing another son and brother, but as soon as my house is built and I have a steady job you can all come and visit. Don’t be worried because I will be just fine on my own. I will write to you every chance I get. I know you will be angry with me, but this is something I have to do. I am failing out of school and I can’t stand all the sonofabitches and phonies at Pencey. You and Allie were the only people I knew that where not phonies. You are getting older, Phoebe, and changing. I wish you wouldn’t have to change so damn much! You will always be my favorite sister, and I will love you even if you turn into a phony like the rest of the sonofabitches. I hope you won’t stay mad at me forever I just have to leave. Bye Phoebe.
