Recipe: Holden Caulfield

1 pinch of rudeness

1 pound of pickiness

5 ounces of dishonesty

15 ounces of social skills

17 cups immatureness

6 years of not wanting to change

5 years of depression

10 ounces of body fat

130 pounds of human bones

1 Liter of booze (doesn’t matter, as long as it’s highly-alcoholic booze)

2 Packs of cigarettes

1 Hunting hat, with flaps

1 dash of sexiness

1 ounce of sadness

½ of a book of cuss-words

10 pounds of sarcasm

6 skills of writing skills

There are many things we are introduced to in the begging of the book. Most of them included Holden talking to us and Holden talking to other people. The many times he runs into "grown-up" people and all he does is lie strait to their faces, and he just about lies to everybody else he can. He’s very rude and sarcastic to people his own age. He talks to just about anybody he thinks he knows. To me these are signs of immatureness. Holden does writing homework for a roommate with the name Stratlader. Holden does have quit the "potty" mouth when it comes to a vocabulary. Many times Holden often talks about chain smoking, which he does and drinking a lot, which he also does. When he describes himself, I think of a tall skinny guy. He buys a green hunting hat that to me is a symbol of not wanting to change. I also feel that he is depressed because of his little brother Allie’s death.
