Chinese Handcuffs is a story that has the possibility of touching anyone who reads it. It combines high school life with suspense. The book features two protagonists. Dillon Hemmingway is a normal teenage boy who excels in all sports but who chooses not to participate in school sports. However he battles for than his triathlon competitors. He battles a competitor who Dillon cannot see, but knows too well about because the enemy changed his life and his brother’s life forever. The other protagonist portrayed in the book is Jennifer. Jennifer is a die-hard basketball player and she dominates her opponents. Jennifer has a secret that bothers her off the court. She cannot shut down this opponent with her ball skills. In the middle of these two is Stacy Ryder who has a secret of her own that will also change Dillon’s life.
