Character Sketch of my Uncle Krishnan

My uncle Krishnan is a great man. He was born in Malaysia, but moved to the United States where he took advantage of the computer baby boom and soon was very successful. Later, he married my aunt. When I was little, maybe 6 or 7 years old my family drove out to visit them on the way to a family vacation. My uncle is a very playful man, but he grew up in a much different family environment. He had a habit of pinching my arm and calling them "Sqito Bites" they hurt. These gestures did nothing but create a deep animosity for him. Needless to say, because of this past history with him I was not looking forward to this trip.
When we arrived, we were greeted energetically by my aunt and uncle who ushered us into their house. My uncle then approached me and asked if I wanted to go fishing. At first I was skeptical, because i thought he wanted to take me to some marshland where the "sqitos" thrive.
I was wrong, but I didn't know it yet. We walked a few miles from his house and soon approached a river. This was a fast moving body of water with flashes of silver in it. I asked what they were and he said it was salmon. Now I was less than enthusiastic, because I HATED salmon, now it is not so bad but then. . . Well he handed me a pole and showed me how to cast. So while I was occupied for a while he moved upstream. After a few hours I had caught some weeds and grass, and a thing that looked like a fish/frog. Well he came to get me and I gazed in awe at his brace of beautiful salmon. He had row after row of beautiful flesh colored marine life.
We walked home in silence because we have never been close. When we got back to his house, he grilled everything up and it was delicious. That was the day that I discovered my uncle and my love of salmon.
