Cause and effect

Once there was a young girl named Joy who was in high school. She had a boyfriend named Conner. They have been going out for about 2 and half years. Joy wasn’t really into drinking. She had too many things going for her at the time she had no time.  Joy was a honor student. She was going to go a great college. Joy had a good job and was practicing to be a doctor.  Conner was not an honor student. He cared about his grades, but at the time he thought parties, drinking and hanging out with friends  was more important than his schoolwork.

Later that weekend Conner was planning on going to a party. Joy didn’t want to be left out. She thought that she needed to let lose and have fun for once.  She went to the party after all with Conner.  It was about 12:00 when they arrived at the party.  When they walked inside to the party. Conner went straight to the alcohol.  Joy and Conner were at the party for only about two hours when Joy decided it was time to leave.  Conner got mad because he wanted to stay and have fun with his friends, but Joy wanted to leave with him or without.

Conner decided to leave after a conflict with Joy for about fifteen  minutes. Joy didn’t want to go with him though, since he was mad and he was drunk.  She told him that she was going to drive, but he wouldn’t let her drive. He told her that he  was fine, that he wasn’t drunk.  She didn’t want to go with him. She had no choice though, he was her only way home. She got in and buckled up.  She made him too.  They took off down the road. As he was driving he started in again about how he wanted to stay, and how he was having fun.  She just ignored him and kept agreeing with him.  Conner got mad and started yelling at Joy.  She started to cry and scream back at him, telling him to keep his eyes on the road. Conner kept yelling not caring  what she had to say.  At that moment a truck came around the corner.  Joy screamed “ your on the wrong side of the road”. He looked forward but it was to late.  At impulse he turned the car, and the truck hit the passenger side were Joy had been.

Conner woke up in a sweat.  He had a bright light shining in his eyes. He didn’t have a clue where he was.  He than realized he was in the hospital.  He tried to get up, but he was strapped in the gurney.  He kept asking the doctors where Joy was.  Later, after they stabilized him, they told him that she had died instantly.  She had no chance of living.  He lay their stone cold and realized that he would never see her again.  He blamed himself for the accident.  He was  forever filled with guilt and shame. On that night he promised to himself and to Joy that he would never drink again.
