Jared Kruse/p.6 #2
One big obstacle was his very own dad. His dad is not supportive of his
rocket hobby at all. He never comes to watch Homer launch his rockets but still
has time to see his brother’s football games. Also no one has really ever
tried doing something else like rockets. Everyone either goes to college for
football or work at the mine. Homer did not want to work at the mine he wanted
to do what he wanted. He needed supplies for his rockets so he took risk to get
welding done for his rocket and the right supplies. At the beginning he had to
get his friends support and he did.
Homer need a place to launch his rockets too that was a big problem. Due
to the mine it own most of Coalwood land. So he walked 8 miles just to make a
launch site for him and his friends. Another obstacle are the supplies he needs
for his launch site. So him and other town folk help build and supply homer to
make his launch site. Homer wanted a scholarship so he had to enter a science
fair and beat very hard competitors to win it. A big obstacle that did not help
homer was his teacher having a disease in the hospital that made him feel very
sad and that was wear most of his support was coming from.
After the first science fair he found out that he had to go by himself to
the finals and that disappointed Homer but he knew he must be strong and go on.
When he was arrived at the finals of the science fair someone stole parts of his
rocket. So he quickly called his mother and asked for someone one to make him a
new one out of the strong metal. The people were one strike so his dad agreed to
the union to give the miners more rights. So his dad was really a big hero to
Homer. In the end homer one his science fair and received his scholarship and
returned home. At the end Homer let his dad launch the rocket and for once his
dad was proud of him.
