Homer had to overcome obstacles in order to reach his dream. One of them was his dad. Another was the principal of the school. And another was getting off of his dad’s company’s property in order to shoot his rockets. Homer’s teacher got a disease and she was in the hospital, so this was another obstacle.

When Homer’s dad found out that he was shooting rockets, his dad told him that he could never shoot rockets on company property again, so Homer and his friends had to go eight miles out of town in order to get off company property. This was a problem because they had to travel a long way in order to shoot off their rockets. This was an obstacle they had to overcome.

The principal of the school wanted Homer to work in the coal mines just like Homer’s father wanted him to. The principal also had Homer and his friends handcuffed because the police said that one of Homer’s rockets started a fire. This stopped them from making any more rockets until they could prove that their rocket did not start the fire.

When Homer started working in the coalmines, his teacher, Miss Riley, was disappointed in him and she wouldn’t talk to him. This was an obstacle because he didn’t know what to do. He couldn’t build any more rockets, but he didn’t want to disappoint Miss Riley, so he had no clue what to do. His dad was proud of him for working in the coal mines, but in the end, Miss Riley told him to do what he wanted to do and not to do what someone else wanted him to do. Therefore Homer quit the coal mines and told his dad that he wanted to make rockets and that he did not want to work in the coal mines for the rest of his life. His dad was disappointed in him once again. After Homer quit, they searched for the rocket they had lost and found it. This proved that they didn’t start the fire.
