Once Upon a Mouse

    Once upon a time there was a little girl named Arianna. Arianna was a beautiful princess. She lived in a castle that was surrounded by woods. The castle was deep in the middle of the woods so no one knew that she was there. In the woods there were many wolves and other animals that were very scary.

    One day when the princess was wondering through her castle, she stumbled upon a little mouse. Now this mouse was no ordinary mouse. He could do many different tricks. He is what you would call a magical mouse. This mouse could turn things into whatever you wanted. Of course the princess did not know that.

    When she was walking down the stairs, she heard the mouse say something. He said, "Hello princess will you be my friend?"

    The princess was startled. "Who? Who said that?" "Please. Somebody. Who said that?"

    "For it was I," said the little mouse. "Will you be my friend?"

    "I don’t know. What is a friend?" Because the princess did not know anyone outside of the castle, she did not know what a friend was.

    "A friend is someone for you to be with. Someone to keep you company."

    "Well that doesn’t sound so bad. I guess I could try to be your friend. What is your name?"

    "My name is Oscar."

    "Hello Oscar. My name is Arianna. It is very nice to meet you."

    As Oscar and Arianna became close, she began to wonder what it was like with other people. She wanted more friends. Oscar wasn’t enough, she was curious about the outer world. She was curious about things that were beyond the woods. She had many questions that she wanted answered. She would turn to Oscar, but she wanted to experience some things for herself.

    One day she was daydreaming. As she gazed out her window, something grabbed her attention. It was something that she had never seen before. So she leaped to her feet, ran out of the castle, and headed straight for the woods. She wasn’t even worried about the scary things that lurked there.

    As she followed the amazing, and undefined creature, she started to stumble over her feet. She grew very tired as she tried to stay on her feet. All of a sudden a snake popped out of nowhere, and she was shocked. She screamed and started to run the opposite direction. She tripped as she ran and fell into a puddle of mud.

    When she stood up and looked around, she didn’t know where she was. She thought to herself for a while to reflect on what had happened. She remembers that she saw a strange creature and followed it into the woods. After that everything was a big blur to her. All of a sudden she got really scared. What was she to do?

    Then she thought about Oscar. He could help her. Although she didn’t know how, she knew he could. When she turned around she saw a little wolf. She was a little scared ,but it started talking to her. "Hello, how are you? Are you a little lost?"

    "Yes, I am lost. I live in the castle in the middle of the woods. Can you help me?"

    "I think I can. What is your name?"

    "My name is Arianna. I would appreciate all the help you could provide me."

    So the wolf helped her. It was a long journey back to the castle, because the princess stopped to look and admire everything.

    When they got back to the castle, the princess was really grateful to the wolf. She thanked him and went inside to tell Oscar about her wonderful day. Little did she know Oscar was with her the whole day.
