In the once peaceful land of HÖLLE, extremely evil demons had taken over. Many tried to escape but were killed when they reached the edge of town. The only hope to escape was to go deep into the dangerous forest to find a stream with a liquid that looked like mercury. This liquid, if found, had the power to turn whatever ingested it invisible, although no more than an hour. Few made the decision to go to the forest to find this "potion," but they never returned.
One day two friends, Fallon and Mercedes, got tired of fearing the demons and decided to go to the forest to find the "potion." They left at dusk for the forest. They brought with them a lantern and a glass bottle to put the stuff in. It was a beautiful night; the moon was full and the stars shone brightly. Fallon's extreme paranoia had kicked in and started seeing and hearing things.
"You didn't see or hear anything; it was just the wind and the trees," said Mercedes. Then Mercedes saw a dark shadow go by quickly ahead of them.
"Curse you; I caught your paranoia."
"It's only a shadow," answered Fallon in a mocking Mercedes.
"I saw something; I know I did."
Once again mocking Mercedes, Fallon answered back, "You're just paranoid."
Just then they both heard something coming from behind them. Now they were trying to force themselves to believe it was just the atmosphere of the night. A few minutes later, a rather odd looking creature appeared; it was a sphinx.
"holy #%?!" they both yelled.
The sphinx merely laughed, then said, "If you can correctly answer my question, I won't take you back to the village; I have a feeling you are not supposed to be here."
"Peachy," replied Fallon.
"Shut up!" Mercedes said in an urgent whisper.
"Right; what part of grammar," Fallon immediately thought well I'm screwed, "is panzer and what is it?"
"I'm guessing it's an adjective..."Mercedes nervously answered.
" It's armor, right? protected by armor..."Fallon added.
"Correct. You may proceed." the sphinx said; and was gone in the blink of an eye.
***sigh of relief*** "I thought we were out of luck for a minute there," said Fallon, "good thing you pay attention in class."
It was getting late, so they continued their journey. Not to far ahead, they could see something shimmering in the light of the moon. They sped up, and when they got to the shimmering light, quickly got out the bottle and left.
On their way back to the village they could tell people were already up; they could see light and smoke from fires. They were getting closer to the village when they heard the roar of a cat: the sphinx, the sound that woke all the village. They ran faster and finally reached the edge of the village.
They could tell people had been looking for them. Before they could hide somewhere, their parents spotted them and ran towards them. When the parents reached them, they took the form of the demons, seized the bottle and shattered it on the ground. The rest of the village heard the commotion, and the real parents came forth and convinced the demons not to kill them.
Although their parents were glad to see them alive, they were still punished. Fallon was grounded for a week but ended up being only three days. Mercedes was grounded for a month and was forced to do her siblings' house work. Otherwise... 'they all lived happily ever after.'
