The most awaited comic event of the year is coming October 28th. The definitive Super Fred, featuring all four of Miss. Gleich’s comics put together in one book, will be hitting the shelves of bookstores coast to coast this fall. Super Fred first found readers in the cartoonists own hometown of Yankton, South Dakota. Her audience contained many of her peers, and soon her fan base stretched to an older group of readers.
Super Fred comics have been classified as the ‘intelligent comics’ with a full page of text accompanying every picture. The definitive Super Fred includes: Super Fred, Super Fred Playing with fire, Super Fred to hell and back, and Super Fred insanity is only the first step.
The Super Fred series depicts the daily life of your average Joe, super hero. Though Fred does have the job of saving Pheonixia, he also has to try and keep his girlfriend, keep a second job, protect his mommy, put up with the stupidity of authority, and last but not least, fit in a healthy amount of rest and relaxation.
Super Fred appeals to his audience because so many people can relate to the problems he faces, such as horrible bosses, evil coworkers, crazed teachers, and an opinionated narrator. With the help of side kicks, and best friends Super Fred takes on the hassles of both the average man, and the super hero with less than super powers.
Tons of laughs, and witty repartee leads to an all around hilarious comic. The author has stated several times however that this is not a comic for the easily offended. She has stated "I started drawing these comics in junior high to amuse myself and my friends, if you don’t like what I draw don’t buy the comic books,"
The definitive Super Fred will be sold for the bargain price of only $21.95. The four comics can be purchased separately at all refined Kmart stores. The cartoonist expects to create at least another definitive Super Fred containing another four comics, each being released within the next few years.
