Cyber Journal

This class so far has been very confusing. I’ve been gone for so long from being sick that I’m still trying to learn and catch up with what I’m suppose to be learning. All I know right now is that I’m supposed to be writing many essays and reading The Princess Bride with my partner Emily.

The class has started to become harder to keep up with since I have so many essays to be writing and reviewing over. Although the class is becoming harder, I enjoy the freedom I have in here. Learning off the computer isn’t as hard as learning about how to do tasks on the computer. Being hands on with the computer is teaching me more things about it and helping me stay organized with all the papers I’m writing.

I love this class. Being able to learn on my own and finishing tasks without the teacher on my case is a huge relief. This class is completely different from all the English classes I have taken. This class lets me write on the computer and send it to others and let me know what they think of it before I actually send it to the teacher. This class is slack compared to Grammar or Speech. This class also lets me work at my own pace instead of giving me homework every night and pushing me to give up other time I would have had for Geometry.

I also like learning how to construct and perfect my own website.

I have learned much in this class. Examples of some things I have learned are how to build a web site, how to write essays with more descriptive words, and I’ve also learned more words so far.

I found out how to spell et cetera. I have always thought it was spelled ect. I also have learned how to teach myself to use more descriptive words than using such words as thing or stuff.

My website is coming along very nicely. I like putting all my homework on a website instead of turning it in day after day.

Sophomore Comp is a fast learning course and is hard to keep up with. I think that a class that I can turn in homework everyday and not worry about putting it on this website is much easier than having to hassle with the extra work of sending it to everyone and keeping it very organized. But on the other hand, I like this class because it makes it more exciting then coming in and writing a new essay everyday and dreading the class.

As of right now, Cyber Comp is just all right. It’s not the greatest but it’s better than slaving over paper writing for hours every night. I also think that my web page is turning up to be the standard page instead of making it above average.

Lately I haven’t had time to read my novel. It’s hard to read when there is studying for tests and geometry homework to tend to. I usually have an hour to read on the weekends but that’s just once a week. This class is slack and probably better than any of the other class so I won’t complain.

My favorite thing on my website is the tribute to Andrea. She was paralyzed after she fell off the bars landing on her neck. She hasn't felt anything lower than her belly button since then and the news of her injury hit every gymnast hard. We were headed out to Sioux Falls for our meet against O'Gorman when our coaches told us the news. We didn't know what to expect since the team we were facing just lost a close friend the night before. We competed with faith and treated our opponents as close friends. Andrea will forever stay in hearts and we all hope she will one day walk again.

The past nine weeks have been very interesting in this class. From everything to Jared talking on and on or Christian using creative words. As I reflect this class, I'm reminded of how at the beginning the class was hard and fast pace but now I find it opening my mind and helping me discover new words and sentence style. I also like how I can have the freedom to work on whatever I please to do instead of having a strict and structured routine everyday. Being able to discuss how I feel about this class is also a great way to express myself without getting in trouble.

Well, the weather is great. I can literally feel the excitement of summer with the school walls.  Looking back at the few months, this class has taught me more than just how to write. I have learned how to use the computer and take in this rapid technology and put it to good use. It's been almost a month and a half since I have wrote in my journal. Since then I have learned to understand my neighboring cyber peers. If I had a choice between this class and a regular Sophomore Composition class, I would choose this one because of the great benefits that have come from it.

Final Journal

This is my final journal of the class. I have learned more than just how to write in Sophomore Composition. I have improved my typing skills, I am more computer literate, and have been able to see others' work. I think this class has helped me find my writing voice and made a desire to improve and perfect the ideas I write down. The more I wrote in this class, the more what ifs and how comes popped into my head. After I thought, I answered and wrote it down.

I have enjoyed working on my page as well. Fixing the technical problems have been frustrating and I’ll admit that it’s not all complete but I have done my best. I also enjoyed putting on interesting pictures to share with the viewers as well.

I liked writing in the cyber journal to share my ideas about this class. At first I disliked the concept. Being given a computer and told to write out your assignments and teaching yourself was hard. Teaching myself how to write was one of the hardest things I have ever done. Keeping on track and not falling behind on assignments was also a hard process to adapt to. Through and through, I kept up and managed to pull off an A in the class. I think a cyber class as this one really gives responsibly.
