March 1, 1804 Randolph Jackson Tomorrow begins the Journey of the Corps of Discovery I have heard that we are going to be sleeping with the all the wild animals. We are allowed to pack only one bag because we don’t have enough room on the boat. I have heard that our captain is a alcoholic, will he be able to control the crew. What are we going to find out there. What will the land be like, what kind of landforms will we find. Are we going to be hurt? Will there be any females out there? What if I die will anyone find out? Hello, today was the first day we saw the Missouri River. It is such a grand river not like the Mississippi but just as neat. It is very muddy and wide. I wonder how deep it is. I hope the boat will be able to float. It is very hard work to go up stream. Takes a lot of strength. The land is very interesting with plains and hills. The river seems like it will go on forever. I’ m looking forward for the rest of the journey. Randolph JacksonJournal It is March 1, 1804 my name is Richard.
I am 38 years old ready to get this expedition going.
It the night before we sail off tomorrow and I’m very nervous
for I have heard many rumors about the West.
I have heard of scary tales of 7ft beavers and erupting
volcanoes. There are many
more rumors that I have heard that frighten me just as much.
I wonder if any of these are true?
This worries that I might harm arm my men if we don’t have any
of the right equipment along. I hope this expedition is lead well and we
are all ok and we succeed in what are leader wants to and discover new
more interesting things.

April 1st, We have now seen the river it is huge.
It is one of the nicest rivers I have seen in my life.
The expedition is going great every is on time and according to
plan. Know one has any
worries about any of it. Not much to say so far there is a lot of wild life along the
river and some Indian which most of them are nice. But I must be going. Richard Pratt March 1, 1804 Elmer Flintstone Tomorrow will be the beginning of the Corps of Discoveries. I am kind of nervis of dangerous animals or people that I might see along the way. I’m also exsited at the same time becuze I want to explore and learn new stuff. Along the way, I’m expecting to find different animals, plants, and what the land is like in different places. For the journey, I will bring along enough things for the different types of the weather I run into. I will bring a dog to help me find my way and keep me out of trouble. I will bring plenty of water and some food. I feel like I will learn more about the land and about what lives there. Well that’s all for now. I’ll talk to ya tomorrow!
Today is a very important day because we have gotten to the Missouri River. The Missouri River is an interesting place to explore. The flora of the river includes grass, trees, and flowers. The fauna of the river are birds, squirrels, butterflies, and gophers. The Missouri River is very important to fish because the fish rely on the river for life. We found the water was shiny and brownish green. Along the side of the river, there were many dead fish. Exploring the Missouri River was a great experience. -Elmer |

March 1, 1804 James Hutchinson Time is winding down until we are to begin on our grand journey. I am also growing extremely anxious, but I am nervous with it. I hope that the Corps and I stay healthy during our journey, but I know that this won't be true. We are all curious as to what the West has in store for us, and a little bit afraid too. There are rumors about eight-foot beavers and mammoths. If this happens to be true, who knows what else could be out there. I wonder what the land is like and what will be needed to get through this. It seems that it will be a long way to make it to the Pacific Ocean. We will begin tomorrow at the orders of Thomas Jefferson and explore the West to see what it is like. For now, I better get to bed even though I probably won't sleep too well. For tomorrow, we have got a long day ahead of us.
May 3, 1804 James Hutchinson We have just arrived at the sight of the Missouri River. What a beautiful sight it is too. It is so peaceful, yet the river still moves along bringing new water all the time with the current. The rest of the group in the Corps are relieved since we reached the water. It is providing us with fresh drinking water and to cool ourselves. We are planning on moving along fairly soon yet we are taking a rest for awhile before we continue our journey. Most of us did not get much sleep last night because we knew that the river was coming. Well, I am going to go for now to have my chance to enjoy the river. March 1st 1804 Tomorrow is the day. I am Alexander James. I will be going to the land of unknown. We will be going to the west. We have a tough journey infront of us. We don't know what we will run into. We will be leaving our family and friends. We might never see them again, but families our praying that we will return. I have heard many things about the west. Things like 7-foot tall beavers and mounds of undisolved salt. I have also heard that the mountains will be easy to cross. The Rockies are smaller then our mountains. I am hoping the ground will not be very bumpy and rough. We are hoping to become friends with many Indian tribes, bringing presents and weapons for them. I am frightened of things that may lie in the west. I am still very antsy because I want to find new things. I don't know what to expect. The good thing about this trip is that I will be leaving with my dear friend William Clark, and brother John I have finished packing. It didn't take me long to decide what I wanted to take becuase of my few belongings. I better go to my bed and get some sleep becuase tomorrow will be a long LONG journey.
Hello I am back again. The journy has been very long though we are sure we are not even close to the end. We have just found the Missouri River. There are many animals along this river. Many we have seen and some we have not known of. A few of the animals includ squirrels, birds, and lots of bugs. Though we have not seen any we think there could be bears and deers. This river isn't very rapid. It is very calm. We have seen many trees, flowers, and different types of grass. In the water we have found fish and we have seen one turtle. The river is really pritty at night. Everything so far has been just right. Nothing has gone wrong so far. At least not that I know of. Well I am going to leave to finish watching the river again.
