A RIVER RUNS THROUGH IT
ESSAY OF PLACE
While I have been reading, "A river runs through it" I have noticed that Paul and Norman really have a good sense of where they are at all of the time. I think that they are really a part of the river because to them that is their special place that they go in Montana. They go there to clear their thoughts and talk and to have nice day fly-fishing.
I also have a place that I like to go to clear my thought and think about things. That place that I like to go is to the basketball court. Throughout my whole life I have always gone to the gym whenever I was mad or sad. It is a place that I can go anytime of the day to clear my mind. I love going to the gym and playing basketball. It is one of my favorite things to do!
The person who went with me all of the time to the gym was my good old dad. When I was little and I would ask him to go to the gym with me he would never say no! It didn’t matter if he was watching football, eating, or even have a serious conversation with my mom he would always go with me. If I was mad at my parents or something my dad would still go with me even though he knew that I was furious with him. The basketball court is where my dad and I would go all of the time to bond with each other and talk to each other about the things that were on our minds. So I can relate to Paul and Norman and how they bond when they go to the river. The basketball court has always brought the best out of me!
My special place really means a lot to me. I have always been able to get into the big nice gym because my dad has the keys and is the coach. A lot of places have a lot of different meanings to a lot of different people, but the basketball court means the world to me. It is pretty much my life, my job, its what I do! I Am really able to clear my mind when I go to the gym and shoot hoops. Everything that is bugging me at the time just seems to go away for the hour or so that I am there. It feels really good to get away form everything that is bugging me! My special place is the basketball court! It will always be a very special place in my life and my dad’s life because that is the place where we can get together and talk about our lives and what is going on in them. My special place is the gym and it will always be the gym for the rest of my life. So when I am having troubles in life you can always find me playing some basketball in the gym and shooting up a storm!
essay of the book
I just got done finishing the book "A river runs through it" and at times I liked the book and other times I did not really enjoy the book as much. The book was about two brothers and their love for fishing and some experiments that they went through in the book. The book at times was full of adventure but then other times it was a very boring and slow book. In this essay I am going to be sharing what I thought about the book and some interesting things about the book also.
In the begging of the book "A river runs through it" it was very slow to get started and I really was not interested in the book at all. The reason that it was so slow and why I was not interested in it is because the facts and points that they were trying to get across I just really was not feeling. I am not to much of a fisherman and that was one of the main topics in the beginning and throughout the whole book. The type of fishing that was brought up a lot in the beginning was the art of fly fishing and I had never heard anything about or of fly fishing before until I started reading this book. That is one of the reasons why I did not really enjoy the beginning of the book "A river runs through it"
Towards the middle of the book I was hoping that the book would get a little bit more interesting and it really as a while did not get too much interesting towards the middle of the book. There really were not too many interesting things that happened more and more into the book. Nothing really got going in the book. I was a little disappointed in the book as a whole. The middle of the book was the same as the beginning in the same ways that the beginning of the book got started. They were still really big on the whole fly fishing thing and I still was not feeling that whole part of the book.
The end or towards the end of the book is where the book really kind of started to catch my eye because it kind of got off the whole fly fishing thing a little bit and started to talk about the river more. There was a lot more drama and a lot more adventure that was starting to erupt in the book. I really enjoy books that that have drama and adventure in them because it really gives the book a big spark and that is what this book really needed because through most of it, it was kind of dull and boring and I really do not like books that are dull and boring like that. So after the reading "A river runs through it" I would have to give the book a 5 or a 6 just because of the boring start that the book brought to the table!
