Toast

Rick and I came home from school on that cold winter day ready to watch
TV and scarf on some old fashion toast. When we first got to my house we popped
of our shoes and ran downstairs and grabbed two ice cold coca colas. We started
playing a little PS2, when all of a sudden the mad craving for some toast
sneaked into our stomachs! We rushed downstairs to get some. I was the first to
arrive at the bead box and the Rickster’ slowly followed. I opened it up and
to my surprise there was no bread left! What were we to do? How were we to
react? We have had a craving for some toast all day and now we don’t have any!
We sat down and thought this situation out. “ Well we could just eat some
cookies,” said Rick. I replied with a big “NO! I want toast and nothing else
but toast!” All of the sudden a genious idea came to my head. “ Why don’t
we make some lemonade and cell it, and then when we have enough money we can go
and buy a loaf of bread and chomp it down!” “ Heck yes!” exclaimed Ricky.
We started fixing up the lemonade. After a half an hour of just making
the lemonade we were finally finished and ready to start some sellin’! We were
on the street corner for about two hours and we only had one dollar and twenty
cents. All needed was 50 more cents and we would be able to buy some toast. We
sat around for at least three more hours and absolutely no one would stop and
buy some lemonade, but then the most amazing thing happened! Am enormous bus
stop and at least 25 football players got out and were all looking for freezing
cold refreshment! We ended up having more than enough money for some good old
toast! We went to the store and bought 10 loafs of bread, went back to my house
and started feasting on out favorite meal in the whole wide world. TOAST!
OBSTACLES
IN THE WAY
In this paper I am going to be writing to you about the obstacles that Homer had to overcome to pursue his dream and the obstacles that stood in his way while he was trying his hardest to find his dream. I am going to be telling you about how he overcame those obstacles and became the town hero and legend.
In the movie October Sky Homer and his friends also had to over come many tough obstacles to pursue in the art of rocketry. The boys had to get over a lot of things but not as much the one and only Homer. Early in the movie Homer had to overcome the obstacle of going over and actually talking to Quidith because Quidith was a major nerd in the school that they went to. No one would ever talk, sit by, or hang out with him, but Homer really wanted to start something with Rocketry so he grew enough nerve and went over and talked to him. This was a big part in the movie because no one had ever went and talked to Quidith and Homer put his reputation on the line by going over to him and talking to him! So that is the first obstacle that Homer had to overcome.
The second obstacle that Homer had to overcome was trying to get his rude and crude father to understand that the art of Rocketry was what Homer wanted to do for life and what he wanted to pursue in, in life! Homer’s father just would not accept him for who he was. Homers brother was the town jock and was a major stud in football and Homer just was not into the same stuff. Homer’s father wanted him to be just like his brother and homer just did not want to have any part of that. So the second obstacle that Homer had to over come been to get his rude father to understand and accept him for whom he is.
The third obstacle that Homer had to over come been he had to get the whole town of Coalwood to believe in what he and his friends were doing. He had to get the town to understand and see what why this Rocketry was so important to them and to other people in America. Homer and his friends were the laugh of the town for a little while until they invited the town to see what they had been working on and show them that they were for real on what they were doing and that they were not joking around. So I think that the third biggest obstacle was to show the town that they were not kidding around and that they were for real on what they were trying to pursue in life.
The fourth obstacle that poor Homer had to go through was when he finally had to go and work in the coal minds because his father was in a huge accident! So when he finally figured out that the coal minds was not the place for him to be and that he was on this earth to do something great for this world he had to regain trust from his teacher, Ms. Riley. He also had to gain respect from his friends also and the town of Coalwood because the boys finally got the towns respect Homer dropped out and went and started to work in the coal minds. Homer also had to prove to the town and his family that he could still go that science fair and get first and get a full ride scholarship to a major school in the United States. So that’s what I think the fourth obstacle was for Homer in the movie October Sky.
I have listed some of the main obstacle that Homer had to over come in his rough road to fame. He and his friends never quit and never lost hope in what they started in the first place. Homer proved a lot of people wrong by pursuing in the art of Rocketry and going on to a major college, which he graduated with ease. Homer taught me a lot about life. He taught me that you can do anything you want to if you just get the right mind set on what you want to do and that you shouldn’t let anyone tell you that you cant do something because if you really want to do it then you can do it! So those are the obstacles that Homer had to overcome in his long road to fame and glory!
