This is an interview of a common person in the United States during the time of the War in Iraq in the 1980's-90's. This is most commonly known as Operation Desert Storm. We chose to interview Brennan's dad Dave and ask him question about how he felt during this period of time.

Interview Question 1: Did this event seem to affect the people of the United States greatly?
Dave's Response: Yes, because it was the first war that many people had ever experienced in their lifetime.

Interview Question 2: When you found out about this, how did you react?
Dave's Response: I had mixed feelings. I was supportive of the administration, but concerned whether or not we should send troops when national security may not have been at stake.

Interview Question 3: Did this seem to affect your family in any way?
Dave's Response: Only by the economy faltering during the crisis.

Interview Question 4: Did you have to change anything about your day-to-day schedule?
Dave's Response: My daily schedule was unaffected.

Interview Question 5: Were you fearful for your life and the lives of your friends and family?
Dave's Response: No, not at all.

Interview Question 6: Was anyone you knew affected greatly by this?
Dave's Response: Two or three people that worked at the same company as I did were activated from their National Guard outfits.

Interview Question 7: How old were you when this event happened?
Dave's Response: 30 years old

Interview Question 8: Did you do anything to help the war effort?
Dave's Response: Not that I recall.

Interview Question 9: Did your community do anything to help the war effort?
Dave's Response: Not that I recall.

Interview Question 10: After this war in the early nineties did you ever think we might be back over there again?
Dave's Response: I thought that it was going to be over when the war was finished in the nineties.

Interview Question 11: What caused this war to start?
Dave's Response: Iraq invaded Kuwait jeopardizing the world's oil supply.

Interview Question 12: Did you believe the United States would win this war?
Dave's Response: Yes, but I didn't think that it would be as easy a victory as it turned out to be. As it turned out this was caused by the media overstated the capabilities of the Iraqi military.

Interview Question 13: Who was the president at that time and did you feel that he was doing a good job with this situation?
Dave's Response: George H. W. Bush. I think he and his advisors did a good job preparing and executing the war plan. I suppose, however, that it is debatable whether or not we should have continued our drive into Baghdad and captured Saddam Hussein.

Interview Question 14: Do you feel that this war was ever ended peacefully?
Dave's Response: It ended peacefully for the coalition, but not peacefully for many people in Iraq because of the actions of Saddam Hussein.

Interview Question 15: Do you think that the war in Iraq now is similar to the one in the nineties?
Dave's Response: No, in the first war we were driving them out of Kuwait. In the current war we have eliminated the Hussein Regime and now we are trying to help establish a democratic government. This war bas turned out to be much more difficult and complicated.
