I think that Ellen feel that she does not deserve what she all has at that time and place. I think that she does not really quite know who she is yet.

I think that Ellen’s grandmother said that because she is very upset about her daughter dying. She hated Ellen’s father ever since she met him. She blames him for the death of her daughter, and since he isn’t around to yell at she has to take it out on Ellen because she is a part of him. | |

She feels like this because she finally has a family that loves her and that she loves back. She feels so grateful to be with them and that great things happen when you do not expect them to.
| And all this time I thought I had the hardest row to hoe. When she lived with her father she felt that she had the worst life possible. That everything went wrong for her. When she finally moves into a home she realizes how good she has it now and how bad some people do still have it. |
5)A connection between something in the book and another piece of literature. This book showed how some people live and what they have to go through eachday. When they talk about slaves working outside and how rasest some people are it makes you really think. Some past books I have read have had slavery, poverty, and deaths in it much like this book.
